Public Relations & Marketing Intern -- Part-Time, Paid -- On-Site, Rhode Island Office

 

Northeast Public Relations, Inc. is seeking a public relations & marketing intern to work on-site at the company office in the Providence metro area. We are located 10 minutes north of downtown Providence. Note: This is NOT a virtual or remote working position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the chief executive throughout the workday

  • Draft press releases

  • Write blog articles

  • Post to social media accounts

  • Write video production scripts

  • Monitor the web for client media coverage

  • Conduct online research and provide summaries of findings

  • Organize responses to requests for proposals

  • Compose and respond to emails

  • Manage executive’s calendar and appointments

  • Attend and take notes during meetings

  • Manage to-do lists 

  • Draft memos and activity reports summarizing day’s tasks

  • Make phone calls to schedule appointments and take information requests

  • Manage communications with vendors and contractors

  • Report to work on time and track hours worked

Requirements

  • This is an entry-level internship. No prior work experience is required.

  • Minimum 6 month internship term with the option to extend to 12 months

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED. 

  • Able to type at least 40 words per minute (as verified by typing test)

  • Familiarity with Windows 10, Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Available to work 15-20 hours per week

  • Willing to sign confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement.

  • Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have obtained at least one dose 2 weeks before beginning work.

 

We are seeking a positive person, who brings a “can-do” attitude to the position and willingness to learn. Being an internship, you will be trained in all job duties. However, it is important that you already: 

  • have excellent communication skills

  • be able to write English clearly and concisely

  • follow instructions

  • comfortable working in a small team

  • know how to conduct yourself in a professional manner in person, by written communication and over the phone

  • be a naturally organized person, who is able to prioritize tasks and manage a personal system for keeping track of everything.

 

Other positive qualities we look for are a curiosity about working in the public relations and marketing industry. Being a good listener is key. We will be working very closely together and we will ask a lot from you, but it helps if you bring a sense of fun and good humor to position!

Compensation

  • $12-15 per hour

  • 5 hours per day up to 15-20 hours per week, flexible work schedule. All hours must be logged at the Northeast PR office location. No remote or virtual working arrangements will be permitted.

  • All necessary computer equipment and workspace will be provided.

  • Note: This position does not provide benefits.
